The Brown-Kohl 4-H Appreciation Scholarship
This scholarship endowment is established in appreciation for the important impact of 4-H in my life and that of my family. Furthermore, it also honors my mother, Linda Giorgis Brown, a 4-H volunteer leader, Wyoming public school teacher and long-time advocate of youth development.
ELIGIBILITY:
A current Wyoming 4-H member with a minimum of 5 years of state residency and 4-H membership.
- Must be a graduating senior in a traditional Wyoming public high school who plans to enroll at the University of Wyoming (on-campus academic program in Laramie); is subsequently admitted and enrolls at the University of Wyoming.
- Applicants must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Recipients must become an active member of the Collegiate 4-H student organization.
Or
An adult with at least 3 years of volunteer leadership in the Wyoming 4-H program.
- For the recipient’s use at the University of Wyoming (on-campus academic program in Laramie) in preparation for re-entry into the workforce or for job transition.
NUMBER AND AMOUNT OF SCHOLARSHIP
One scholarship for use at the University of Wyoming in the amount of $500.00
SELECTION:
Applicants must submit the required application and materials before the due date.
The criteria for selection of a New Recipient shall be based:
- 30% on 4-H accomplishments
- 25% on scholastic achievement (Have and maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.)
- 15% on character and leadership
- 15% on financial need
- 15% on application essay addressing “The impact of 4-H on my life and future plans.”
Rather than an award being made to a new recipient, the current recipient of this scholarship may receive the scholarship for a maximum of three subsequent years, if continuation criteria is met.
Continuation criteria:
- Proven maintenance of a minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Demonstrated progress in a degree program.
- Proven participation as an active member of the Collegiate 4-H student organization.
- Letter of application submitted by the scholarship due date.
