Events & Activities

Meat Judging

In Meat Judging, members evaluate beef, pork, and lamb carcasses and cuts based on quality and yield. Contestants identify retail cuts, rank classes, and explain their reasoning. It’s a great opportunity to learn how meat products are graded, marketed, and selected by consumers — skills valuable in both agriculture and food science careers.

Wool Judging

Wool Judging helps youth learn to evaluate fleeces based on cleanliness, length, crimp, handle, and yield. Participants rank wool samples, give reasons for their placings, and gain insight into how fiber quality affects value. This contest develops attention to detail and communication skills essential for anyone interested in the sheep industry.
