The amount of people I get to meet.
Many, but having to comfort people in their darkest moments is the most challenging for me.
I started volunteering with my local fire department when I was in high school.
The different roles that we fill for our county. Our department is unique in how we are structured and can take on many different roles to accomplish the goals we need to at any given time.
At a minimum, an associate’s degree in Fire Science or a related field is required. I recommend pursuing higher education if you decide you want to move into more administrative roles, such as my position, or advance to a director-level role.
