Q. What is the highlight of your career?
A. Working with people and helping them see a vision for their property come to fruition. Each property is its own unique puzzle, whether we’re just doing snow removal or designing a large scale landscape from the ground up. I also enjoy connecting with my employees and helping them be successful.

Q. What are challenges you encounter in your career?
A. Like many business owners, finding a balance between work and family life can be difficult. I try to set boundaries and prioritize pouring into my family whenever possible. Finding employees, maintaining equipment, and the administrative aspect of business ownership is a challenge as well.

Q. How did you get to this career?
A.  My dad was a golf course superintendent when I was young. My passion was to do the same, and I pursued the education and experience required to do that. After working at and managing golf courses I purchased a full service landscape maintenance business in 2020.

Q. What is something unique about your career most people might not know or understand about what you do?
A.  I am not only my team’s “boss”, I try to build personal relationships with my employees, business partners, and other local businessmen. We all benefit from knowing what each other needs to be successful.

Q. Are there scholarship or internship opportunities available with your career? If so, where can more information about those be found?
A.  Landscape management in the Rocky Mountain west is very seasonal in nature. There are many jobs for high school and college students that can help get a foot in the door and learn more about the work. No matter how far you take your career in the field, knowing how to do the physical job on the ground is an essential skill.
