Q. What is the highlight of your career?
A. Working in an exciting and challenging work environment that provides an adrenaline rush and benefits wildlife. You get to see a lot of new country and see a lot of wildlife. Being able to do something that most people never get to experience.

Q. What are challenges you encounter in your career?
A. There are a lot of challenges; weather, physical exertion, difficult animals, mechanical break downs, long days and hours, constantly on the road and away from home.

Q. How did you get to this career?
A. Because I said yes when an opportunity was presented and a lot of luck. I was working on my graduate studies research project, which was tracking and monitoring a low elevation bighorn sheep herd. The wildlife company we had hired to recollar the sheep was down a crew member (a mugger), they asked if I would fill in to complete the job. Of course I said yes. I then traveled with them for another job the following week, as a trial bases. Two years later and after I completed my graduate degree, the company called to see if I would be interested in a full time position. The rest was a great adventure because I said yes when an opportunity was offered.

Q. Are there scholarship or internship opportunities available with your career? If so, where can more information about those be found?
A. There are a lot of internship opportunities in the career path of Wildlife Management. Many of them are with government agencies, reaching out to the Forest Service, BLM, Game and Fish, Forestry, and others is a great place to start and to understand where those internship positions are posted. There are also private or non-profits groups that conduct this work, it would be worth contacting them directly.
